L'oeuf au miroir

A reflection

Every time one of those heart wrenching ASPCA TV ads comes on I choke back tears, grab Syddie-Bean, rub her fur, kiss her velvety ears, and whisper, "Spoil 'em while you've got 'em, right, Syd?" I can't save all the homeless animals, but I can make sure that my canine best bud is the most pampered puppy possible in the short time we will have together.

Author, radio show host, and dog expert, Tricia McConnell, wrote in her blog that she lost one of her dogs today. Lassie was 16-years-old and was loved, no doubt, to the hilt. In her post, Tricia summed up Lassie’s life in 6 words: French Vanilla. Ice Cream. Summer Day. She wrote that Lassie melted into her life like a vanilla ice cream cone on a summer day. Syd and I totally get that.

Tricia invited her readers to share their own 6 words, so I posted my spoil ‘em while you got ‘em “dogma” to her comments section. I hope she takes comfort in the knowledge that she gave Lassie a fabulous life, and, more importantly, that she gave Lassie love.

I’m sending you peace, Tricia. You’re in my thoughts.

Syddie-Bean is fortunate to have you and vice versa.

"Spoil 'em while you got 'em" is perfect.
